PEAK is bringing its climbing trips to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026. For groups split between a console and a PC, the useful part of today's announcement is crossplay: the climb is opening to friends who do not own the same hardware.

Team PEAK confirmed the PS5 date and crossplay in its October 15 PlayStation announcement. Gematsu reports the developers' wider announcement covers Xbox Series and Switch 2 on the same date. Landfall's own FAQ confirms that console crossplay includes the existing Steam community.

The group matters more than the hardware

PEAK supports a party of four, including you. That makes crossplay consequential for a small group: one friend's platform choice need not decide whether the whole team can attempt the mountain together. The announcement is a release date, however, not a claim that these console versions are playable today.

The cooperative hook is practical. Landfall describes players helping each other onto ledges and leaving ropes or climbing spikes for the people behind them. Injuries and hunger can reduce the stamina available for climbing, so choosing a route is also a question of who can still manage it. The person who reaches a ledge first has another job besides celebrating.

What arrives with the PS5 version

Team PEAK says the PS5 release includes the content updates, biomes and items added since the original launch. Its announcement also points to custom runs, which let a group adjust the challenge. Those details matter if a returning PC player is explaining the game to a new console teammate: this is not simply a return to the original content selection.

Landfall's FAQ describes PEAK's major content expansion as finished, while saying bug fixes and maintenance will continue. That distinction helps set expectations. The console arrival gives more players access to the game; it is not a promise of an endless sequence of new regions or a live-service roadmap.

Before organizing the first climb

Pick the date and the group first, then check the final listing for the exact console version. Crossplay confirms that different platforms can play together; it does not by itself establish shared purchases, transferred saves or identical account requirements. The sources checked for this article do not settle those details.

If your group would prefer puzzles to precarious handholds, our Escape Academy 2 announcement covers another upcoming cooperative option. For a different kind of multiplayer planning, our local multiplayer feature explains the distinctions between shared-screen, local wireless and LAN play.
